I always find it interesting to see how churches arrange their slides for their sermon presentations. In most cases, the arrangement of your slides for titles, points, and scriptures is not so much about right-vs-wrong as it is about preference. As long as the information that you’re presenting is clearing visible to your audience, the rest is open for personal style. Here are four layouts that I’ve used when creating slides specifically for displaying scripture in our sermon presentations. I tend to bounce back and forth between these styles depending on the sermon graphic, but you’ll notice that I always try to keep it simple. You can pull these styles off in PowerPoint, Keynote, ProPresenter, or just about any other presentation software.

The second to last one has my graphic in it I put for free on creationswap!!! Sorry just got really excited about that. Great feature by the way!

I like the top one best. The colour combos really appeal to me. Triangles seem to be the hot new shape. We will probably hit that trend in a couple of years :)

Our pastors tend to do their own slides. I’m happiest when I don’t get a powerpoint with an obscure font. Nothing worse than having to reformat slides during the service :)

Our senior pastor does his slides on an iPad and then sends us a PDF. I wouldn’t have chosen to do that but it works a lot better than you might think

Cool! Thanks for the ideas. I tend to stick with the same layout in ProPresenter. It’s good to see other options to help everything look great and not blah.

I do my slides for the message in Photoshop and tailor them to the logo for the series. Try to use a consistent font style in the logo and in the scripture slides (when possible). Readability is foremost…it may look cool, but if the guy sitting in row 6 who just showed up for the first time can’t read the scripture then its not communicating.

PS – Love the triangles too!

One thing I try to do – include the page number where the scripture can be found in our pew Bibles. I’m hoping people feel less self conscious because they can turn directly to the page rather than feel lost finding the right place. Helps those who are new to the Bible.

I love this idea. However, we set up a new template in PP5 to make pulling scriptures fast. Is there a way to make the reference show different than the rest? Or must you go in to each one and change it?
